Who are we?

Located in Ayr, Ontario, we are a multiple award winning landscape design and construction firm focused on the creation of sustainable landscape solutions, ecological restoration projects, water features, natural swim ponds, natural stonework, and walkways & patios.  We're a rapidly growing business looking to add more all-stars to the team.   • Landscape Construction Foreman (posted January 16th, 2019) 

Summary:

The Landscape Construction Foreman/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all on-site aspects of landscape construction projects.

Job Duties:

  • Manage the execution of construction projects, planning labour requirements, equipment requirements and material deliveries and timing to ensure completion of job(s) within project deadlines
  • Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
  • Assist in the preparation of job sites prior to the beginning of a project
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day to day work activities of a landscape construction crew of __ to __ employees
  • Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion of landscape constructions
  • Participate in recruitment activities by conducting secondary interviews with potential job candidates
  • Conduct on-site orientations with new employees and employees in new positions, which cover all company health and safety policies, practices, and procedures
  • Operate various tools and equipment, including heavy equipment, chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
  • Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, posts, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
  • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to delegate/complete work activities
  • Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis, including daily site meeting logs, crew daily forms, equipment daily inspection forms, attendance tracking, time and materials billing summaries, requests for time off, etc.
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations
  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, job sites, and shop/yard areas
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
  • Enforce and work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations at the shop/yard and on job sites
  • Employee training
  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the landscape/construction industry
  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
  • Speak, read, and write English
  • Carry and use a smartphone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift

  • Landscape Construction Crew (posted January 16th, 2019) 
    The Landscape Labourer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks (generally physical labour) in order to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects. The landscape labourer will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks. Core Capabilities:

    Job Duties:

    • Assist in the preparation of job sites prior to the beginning of a project
    • Operate various tools and equipment, including chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
    • Mix, pour, and spread concrete
    • Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, posts, etc.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
    • Dig ditches or trenches
    • Perform land clearing activities
    • Plant and maintain garden beds and lawns
    • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects
    • Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting/carrying
    • Assist foreman with job-related tasks
    • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
    • Comply with all company policies and regulations
    • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
    • Minimum one-year experience in the landscape/construction industry
    • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
    • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Time management skills
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
    • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
    • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
    • Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
    • Preference will be given to candidates with a valid driver’s license and safe driving record

    Work Conditions:

    • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift

  • Contract Planting Technician ( 3-4 positions available posted January 16th, 2019

Summary: Quiet Nature’s Naturalization division works alongside other trades and contractors to enhance, restore, and create natural spaces. Our projects include; naturalizing stormwater ponds, planting trees in residential and commercial areas, creating meadow and prairie habitat, and woodlot enhancement on rural properties, and building natural playgrounds. A Contract Planting Technician may also be asked to assist with the maintenance and operation of our native plant nursery, and assist our Landscape Construction and Garden Maintenance crews. A Contract Planting Technician is a nature-loving’ people person who enjoys working on a team. They have a relentless drive and a keen ability to focus and stay motivated. They thrive under pressure, are excited by a challenge and the opportunity to learn new skills. Their main responsibility is planting trees and shrubs.

 Duration: A Contract Planting Technician would be brought in on an as-needed basis for the duration of scheduled Naturalization projects. An excellent opportunity for someone with part-time, short-term, or seasonal availability.

  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations

Work Conditions:

  • Fast-paced environment
  • Often in close proximity to equipment
  • Loud, dusty, hot, rainy, cold, wet!
  • 10-12  hour days Monday to Friday, and occasional Saturdays
